ABSTRACT: In a commentary for CNN Money, Rudolph Penner states that the failure of the super committee is the latest in a long list of failures to deal with our fiscal problems. The only good thing that happened in the negotiations was that the Republicans opened the door to tax increases a tiny crack. That provides a very slim hope for more productive negotiations next year. But it is more likely that we shall have to await a Greek-like sovereign debt crisis before we make real progress
