Car Reviews Need More Arrest Warrants →
If someone handed me the keys to a 207 mph supercar, I know where I’d end up: jail. As a former car reviewer, this is absolutely true.

Short Sharp Science: No, global warming hasn't... →
Like a game of scientific whack-a-mole, some arguments against climate change just keep bouncing back - no matter how many times researchers disprove them. One is the long-standing claim that “global warming stopped in 1998”, and that since then the Earth has stayed at the same temperature, or even cooled.

Using a value-added tax (VAT) for Deficit... →

Congress Begs a Crisis to Fix the Debt... →
Do we want to take bets, who will pay then? ABSTRACT: In a commentary for CNN Money, Rudolph Penner states that the failure of the super committee is the latest in a long list of failures to deal with our fiscal problems. The only good thing that happened in the negotiations was that the Republicans opened the door to tax increases a tiny crack. That provides a very slim hope for more productive...

Police versus Military
Do you know why the police force and the military are kept separate? It is a good reason. A valid reason. A reason so good, indeed, that the model is only violated by non-democratic dictatorships. It seems to me, however, that in the U.S. the police force has forgotten why it is not the military. It is becoming militarized and we all are the enemies that need to be subdued, pacified, destroyed....
